In 1982, a young Tom Hanks starred in Mazes and Monsters, a movie about a young man who loses his mind after playing a fantasy roleplaying game. Incredibly, many audiences took this film seriously, and it sparked a worldwide backlash against the Dungeons & Dragons that seriously damaged the game's reputation.

What follows are a list of refutations of articles, publications or arguments that have been used to mislead, and continue to do so.
